When we miss the mark or come up short…God’s got enough Grace for that.
If you’re like me, you miss the mark with God sometimes. Ok, a lot. And it’s especially hard as Christians because the world expects us to be…well…like Jesus. On top of that, we create atmospheres for ourselves (even in our churches) where we feel like we have to have it all together.
People, trust me, there is no one, and I mean not a single human being, who has it all together. The ones who look like they do, are probably struggling more than you can possibly imagine.
I have dear friends (plural!) who’ve told me they thought I had it all together. Oh, Lordy. I wonder what aura I’m giving off that could possibly make someone think that. I really do.
I’ll share a secret with you: much of the time, I feel like I’m hanging on by my fingernails. Digging in for dear life. Hoping I won’t be seen as a have-it-all-together fraud.
But, thankfully, mercifully, that’s exactly what Grace is for! To cover our mistakes. To make us right. To present us spotless before a holy God.
“That He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless” Ephesians 5:27
And so, yes I struggle. I make mistakes. I fall short. And I reach out my hands for Grace upon Grace upon Grace. And He grants it. Just what I need. Just when I need it.
And that’s how Grace speaks to me.
